About Sarah

Are you ready for this?

“This” is the truth about what you are doing that is getting in your way.  I was once asked this question and in the space between the question and the answer I felt dread.  When the truth was delivered, I realized I could take it.  I think we can – I think we can handle the hard truths in our lives.

This is the seed of change within us – it was for me.  It starts slowly, almost imperceptibly inside, we do not see it in ourselves or others until one day, in one session, we find ourselves or we hear our partner say something different.  The tenor of that change generally goes from anger and defensiveness and righteousness to questioning and curiosity.

So, are you ready for this? Are you ready to make a leap in the way you relate with yourself and/or your partner?  Or at least, is part of you ready?  All it takes is willingness- willingness to be uncomfortable and curious and it starts with a hope that things could be better even if you have no practical evidence in your social circle, parent’s relationship, other family dynamics, or in politics.  There is another way for us to show up on this planet- with love and compassion for self and others rather than in anger and divisiveness.  I believe that we can make a choice every moment to relate to our circumstances with openness rather than bitterness.

Are you ready to take the leap to full respect living – for yourself, your children (if you have any), your partner, your work, our world?  This means stopping harsh, reactivity and defensiveness now.

Imagine going about in the world feeling comfortable in your own skin, kindness between your ears, and a partner who is happy being connected to you.  I will work with you as a fellow traveler. This is what I work toward with everyone.

Are you ready for this? I hope you say, “YES!”

I am a Certified Relational Life Therapist. I have been training with Terry Real for the past ten years and learn something new every day. I am direct and honest “joining through the truth” of the dysfunction in your relationship. As fellow traveler and coach, I will teach you a new way of being in relationship if you are willing.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy method I use for people struggling with single incident traumatic events. I typically used it in the course of our therapy as indicated. Also, if you are seeing a therapist who…

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy method used to treat symptoms from an adverse life event(s) like intrusive or distressing memories, associated body sensations, and negative beliefs about ourselves related to the event(s). The goal of the treatment is to facilitate the transformation of painful events on an emotional level. I use this method with clients who are struggling with traumatic events in their lives. Find out more about EMDR and how/why is works at https://www.emdr.com/what-is-emdr/

I typically use offer EMDR in the process of our therapy if it is indicated. This is usually done separately from couples therapy or during individual therapy. This method is done in person only.

Adjunct to Individual therapy with another provider: If you are seeing a therapist who does not do EMDR and you want to try it, I am happy to work with you for a short time with the understanding that you will resume with your referring therapist. Your therapist can refer you or you can reach out to me directly.
